Inner Mongolia Yuanxing Energy Co Ltd is located in Ordos, a city considered possessed of "an underground coal sea". It is a chemical company involved in natural gas, coal, and trona and is developing into a modern enterprise integrating new energy, fine chemicals and logistics.

Founded on Jan 23, 1997, the company went public on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on Jan 31 the same year. By the end of 2016, it has 36 subsidiaries of full and mixed ownership with some 5,000 employees and total assets of 22.2 billion yuan ($3.35 billion).

The company is home to the largest production base for converting natural gas into methanol and the biggest demonstration base for the circular economy of the trona industry in China.

The production facilities are distributed in Wushenzhao Ecological Industrial Park (methanol), Nalin River Chemical Park, Wantugou in Ejin Horo Banner (coal production and sales), a coal circular economy industrial park in Ulanqab city (coal selection, washing and distribution), Tongbai county in Henan province (trona exploitation and processing and sales of its derivatives).

The annual outputs of its coal, methanol, trona and urea are 5, 1.35, 2.4 and 1 million tons.

Currently, the sales of its methanol products rank high among domestic players in the industry. The sales of DMF, a downstream product of methanol, rank fourth in China. Its baking soda and trona hold a leading position on domestic markets. In addition, more than 50 percent of China’s exported baking soda was produced by the company.
